VH1 Black Ink Crew Chicago star Charmaine Walker and her husband Nick “Neek” Bey welcomed their first child together, Nola Glenda Bey on Saturday at Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital.
Fans got a chance to see the little bundle of joy up close as the new parents were over joyed to share her in a gallery of photos.
“Hearts are full #NolaGlendaBey was born yesterday at 4:41 6lbs 14 oz and 19.5 inches,” she said in an Instagram post. “When I was pushing her out I had an image of my mom holding her and it was the most beautiful thing ever.”
The radio host and shop owner shared her pregnancy journey with fans Sharing a video from an ultrasound appointment, she wrote, “Expecting Baby Bey March 2020 Shoutout to Momma Glenda. She was so excited The night before she unexpectedly passed away she said ‘I still can’t believe my baby is having a baby!’ I’ll never forget those words.”
In a December 2019 article with Essence when asked how she got through the challenging time of experiencing grief during pregnancy.
“Obviously [my pregnancy] is something I wanted to share with her,” she began. “It hurts so bad that she won’t be here for this. But on the other end, I am grateful that I’m pregnant right now because I have to process her death with a sober state of mind. I can’t run to any vices to get through this. Being reminded that there’s life inside of me does bring joy.”
The couple revealed they would be having a daughter during iHeartRadio station 107.5 WGCI’s Big Jam concert on Dec. 30, and counted down with the crowd as the screen revealed the baby’s gender.
